Does anyone know where to get an inexpensive used car near the Historic District in The Villages? I just moved here and need a car just to get around the local area. My number is 530 205 5222 if you have any tips. Thank you!

Not unless you can find someone who is living under a bridge who has no idea that the price of used cars has recently spiked over 25%.

We seem to get one of these posts a day. There are plenty of used cars out there, thing is they're expensive.

What do you consider inexpensive?

I would search the Craigslist auto section and try both Ocala and Orlando listings, but be careful going anyplace alone with cash money. There's unfortunately a lot of bad people that use sites like this to rob people, but you can meet at a public place including police precinct parking lots or if it's a dealer that should be OK. Good luck.

Back in Minnesota, car buyers were advised NEVER to buy a car from Florida or any of the Gulf Coast states without doing this. A lot of the time, following a hurricane or flooding, unscrupulous buyers would scoop up cars that had been under water, some for quite a long time, give 'em a cosmetic makeover, truck 'em up north and sell 'em. They often looked and ran great, until a few months or years down the road they would experience major electrical problems, mold growing in the seats, rust in places where salt water had been in contact, etc. etc. A casual buyer often as not wouldn't know what to look for when buying a car like that and you can be pretty sure that the seller(s) aren't going to be forthcoming with any negative information. Used car prices are high right now. If you find one that seems like it is too good a deal--odds are that it is. |

Go to cargurus.com. Put in the maximum price you can afford. Select any criteria that is a must have. Then sort by Best deals first.
I recommend make distance as high as possible as the savings could be in the thousands. More than enough to justify renting a car to see it. |

Contact Carvana. They are extremely easy to deal with, both in selling and buying (I’ve done both with them) and have fair prices. You go through their site, decide what you want, they’ll bring the car to you, you get to test drive. If you decide to keep the car, you give them a check which they won’t cash until the 7 days trial period is over.

There are several dealers on Route 301 as well as some on Route 27 and on Route 441 in Leesburg be prepared to be shocked at prices it's honestly better to try the internet carvana.com and CarMax. They will both actually deliver the car to you be advised I don't know your price range but they are trying to sell cars with 100,000 miles as slightly used and still away over $10,000. You might try renting for 3 months through Enterprise or Hertz and see if rice has come down significantly

This is the Original Poster’s first post, so let me add that she is a real person and a friend of mine. She is renting a home here and looking to buy. She flew here. Her rental comes with a golf cart, and that’s her only transportation. She’s looking for a very inexpensive car in decent working order for trips generally of ten miles or less. So if you live in The Villages and have an old car in your garage that you really don’t need, give her a call. She’s honest.
