Default Red Ginger, otherwise known as Alpina purpurata. Anyone in The Villages has to share

Hi, New to The Villages and happily living in the Santa Domingo area. Working on our landscaping as we find the time.

I'm looking for someone in The Villages that has a planting of the Red Ginger flowering plant and wouldn't mind sharing a root. I've observed one of these in Leesburg many times and it simply looks great. First noticed it in November and it was flowering then. Still flowering in January. It's in someones yard so not available to just simply grab a piece. They grow from a rhizome and will propagate easily and grow nicely.

So, if anyone here in The Villages has a planting and wouldn't mind sharing a small rhizome it would be greatly appreciated. I'll be happy to return the favor as our plantings develop and mature.

ThanX,
Roger from a cold/ wintery New Jersey

I noticed a website selling it from Hawaii. It noted not recommended under 42 degrees though I believe. I'll look into that for inside my lanai for privacy but not sure yet how it could survive.
