No impact here. Don't need 5G so I got a free 4G Iphone SE 2021 from my carrier and all is well.

I didn't realize TOMORROW IS THE DATE. We have ATT I do not like the change but we were offered no choice. They did GIVE us a free phone and I think there were options for better phones that you would need to pay for. We had plenty of time to change over and it cost us nothing.

As explained to us, there is a cost involved in continuing to support, maintain the old system and they will not do it. I read somewhere that the launch is delayed. The new system can cause problems for airplane electronics.

An alarm system, I would contact the alarm system manufacturer, support people.
Surely there is a solution, an upgrade or????????????????

What a shame.
Buy the navigation system in your car a couple years old,
and now can't use it.

To be clear ... EVERY carrier will eventually shut down their 3G service.

As long as it won’t effect the yardage readings on my laser rangefinder than it’s all good : )

I can't believe all those horses and buggies that the "horseless carriage" made obsolete

If this shuts down 3G users, does that mean they won’t be customers of AT&T & they’ll be dropped? Or will this force them to get an updated phone & continue to be charged?

MY GUESS: An AT&T customer is paying for the service provided whether they use it or not. Whether their phone is broken, turned off, battery discharged, or 3G-only, the service is still there to be used. If they are still under contract or haven't canceled their month-to-month service then AT&T will expect to be paid.

MY HOPE: AT&T would reach out to customers known to be using 3G phones and offer an upgrade path to the newer technology.

I have AT&T and haven't heard anything but that might be because my phone is newer and won't have a problem.

Unfortunately I already know of one person with an older phone that is dead. They can text, but that is all. 3G isn’t being discouraged, it is being taken down. The expense to maintain that network is just too costly.
