Default Pool Service

Has anyone used Orca Pool company to service their pool? Looking for both good and bad. Since T&D stopped servicing pools, other companies have been less than stellar. I'm willing to give up stellar service for a qualified service person who is dependable. If you would share the monthly charge, that would be helpful. These are tough times.

TIA

Not to sound snarky, but if you think finding good pool maintenance people is “tough times”, our definitions of that expression are very different!

Anyhoo…..we just signed up with Magic Touch. Jolynn Rankorn, the proprietor, used to be with T&D and struck out on her own. I believe she starts at about $130/month depending on what you want done. We are going to be paying $180.

She is quickly becoming a favorite in our neighborhood and has had all absolutely glowing recommendations from people we know who use her services.

Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I will ignore the snarky part. I am taken back on the $180 charge. What is being done to warrant that charge. I really am looking to understand what services I should be aware of. I thank you if you would explain.

I started with Patriot. Fired them and hired Sparkling Waters. They were totally clueless. Finally just gave up and started doing it myself. I hope you're able to find a good one. They seem to be as rare as a four leaf clover.

I truly did not intend to be snarky. I know we all have our own individual trials and tribulations in life, but if finding good pool help is one of yours, I think you’re lucky.

Our pool will be done within a week, so we haven’t even started the process yet. We talked to three of our neighbors who highly recommended Jolynn at Magic Touch. I was expecting a quote of about 125-140, so I was slightly taken aback at the 180 as well. However, while our pool isn’t huge, we have two pumps and two filters, (most people have one), a spa, and a couple water features. Weekly, Jolynn will balance all chemicals, clean and skim the pool, check all equipment. Monthly she will check and clean filters and replace them as needed. She also knows the ins-n-outs of warranty work and can expedite any parts that need replacing if needed.

I don’t want to do any of that, am willing to pay to have it done, and am grateful to be able to do so.

On a side note, today marks 16 months since we signed our contract; 20 months since we called for our initial appointment, and we are still at least a week from completion. All pool companies down here have been hit hard by Covid, labor and material shortages. Wiseman builds an absolutely beautiful pool and uses the best equipment in the industry, but this has been a long, frustrating process. If anyone out there is contemplating a pool, load up on your patience and know upfront that you are in for a nearly 2 year project.

I don't have a pool, but my son does for the last 7 years and does his own pool Maintenace.
Pinch-a-penny does his water testing for free and waits for their sale for the chemicals.

He refuses to pay for someone to come in, drips a chemical strip in the water and leaves
and gets charged $200 a month.

She shows up - you said you wanted dependable. You can pay $125 for maybe dependable, or another $45 for very dependable.

That’s the problem, everyone wants great service, great food, landscapers that show up, but don’t want to pay for excellence. In a service economy, you truly get what you pay for.
