Default Visiting Mississippi and Alabama

Have any of you visited Mississippi to gamble or Alabama for the beaches on more than one occasion?

Or when you want to get away, do you mostly travel within Florida?

since attending helicopter flight school in Alabama back in the late 60's I've never been back....that was a big enough gamble for me at the time

Just be aware that if you go to Biloxi the only thing to do is gamble but there are a lot of casinos.

For beaches Gulf Shores is nice; as is Orange Beach. However Fort Walton Beach area, and specifically Okaloosa Island, is our favorite.

We been to both many times.

We have been to Biloxi and Gulfport many times. Driven from the Villages and flown on the comped junkets from St Pete to the Beau.
There are many things to do in the area that dont involve gambling.
Rent a car if you dont drive. New Orleans is 70 minutes from the Beau.
Drive along the coast and walk the beach. Eat at some of the fun restaurants right on the ocean - Shaggys is one of our favorites. If you have not had shrimp on the Gulf, you have not had shrimp - it is like a totally different food fresh out of the ocean.
The cute little town just beyond the Golden Nugget - Ocean Springs is a nice outing.
Have fun!

Having recently lived in 'Bama I wouldn't go to either state. Been there done that.

Northern bama is where the Appalachians end, certainly beautiful. Alabama has some interesting polar extremes, home to the second largest research park (NC research triangle is #1) yet with extremely conservative laws (no lottery).
