Default Misdirected mail

We received a thank you note (sticker on the back says thank
you). But although addressed to our street address it is addressed to another person. There is no return address. What would you do?

Place it in the misdirected mail slot attached to the postal station.

As another poster advised, put it in the misdirected slot at the mail station.

This is not surprising: homes turn over pretty fast it seems here in The Villages. We regularly get mail for no fewer then FOUR previous owners/tenants.

To go out on a limb you might try the Villages Phone Directory for a name then readdress

Mail is delivered to an address….not a person.
This piece was not misdirected.

Three times we've had for the previous owner come to our house. Once we called them to arrange to hand it off, once I wrote the correct address on the envelope, and once I put it in the mis-delivered mail. As far as I know, all three were effective.

ditto

I occasionally find mail in my box that belongs to a neighbor...which I just walk over and hand deliver....it happens

I think I would open it. I will bet it is an ad. No one send a thank you note without a return address. The sender, any sender, knows who they are and their address unless
they do not want the receiver to know. See if they did not pay a bulk mailing rate.

We read somewhere or other, it is a good idea to leave the buyer of a previous home three preaddressed, post paid envelopes. We did that. One was used out of the three and it was all junk mail. I used to run a business and used my home as an office. I'm sure there was far more than that.

If it was to the previous owner hopefully the post office will know where it goes or they can return it to the sender if they choose to open it.

We are in our house over two years now and regularly get mail addressed to the previous owner. Sometimes mailman catches it and sometimes we get it and put it in the misdirected slot.
