Default Need Recommendations for Structural Contractor with A Engineering Affiliation

A friend of bought a new home for his son and two days later, a storm came through making a tree hit his roof causing structural damage under the roof. He needs someone to repair the damage. They would also have to be affiliated with an engineering firm to insure the structure is safe.

Since I am the middleman, He would like you to call him directly. Nick at 631.398.2579.

Any recommendations will be appreciated. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I would suggest hiring a licensed general contractor and get a county building permit. The county building department will approve the construction plans and inspect the completed work for code compliance. You don't need to hire your own engineer.

If this was in the villages, I would contact home warranty for the original installer, if this is somewhere else, I would see if the same info was available from the local building department, and have the original installer do the repair if possible. Since you state this is a new house, the house plans should be on file with the building department, and you should be able to get copies.
