Default Venus and Jupiter appear to collide.

from online story.

"Early risers on Saturday will be treated to a planetary “conjunction” in the morning skies. NASA says the intermingling of Jupiter and Venus, which will last only two days, will make the planets appear to “almost collide.” The two celestial bodies are among the brightest objects currently present in the night sky."

low in Southeastern sky.

Cool. This morning about 5:30 in the s-east you could see a sliver of the moon as well as Venus and (I'm guessing) Jupiter fairly close together (vision-wise).

Thank you, Topspinmo. We like to know about these things. We will be watching.

………..although, it sure would be nice if it were to be like in that song from my younger days………“And Jupiter aligns with Mars. Then peace will guide the planets”………

Once Groovy Boomer (sigh)

Venus is a very tough old lady who can get hot under the collar so should be an even battle.

If you looked to right in line you would seen Saturn and mars. Once the moon passes Jupiter and the horizon they will be more visible

It seems unlikely that Venus and Jupiter could seem that close as VENUS is CLOSER to the Sun than the EARTH and JUPITER is WAY farther than the EARTH from the Sun, so Jupiter would have to be almost on the other side of the Sun to align with Venus, but I guess anything is possible.

5 a.m. this past Tuesday, I looked up at the moon low in the southeastern sky and noticed the 4 planets in a slightly curved alignment. It's an odd sight to be sure, but still something to look at. I think that it's worth getting up a bit early just to check it out.

Venus is way closer to sun than Jupiter. Notice it said appears to collide from our view on earth looking out toward the universe. Think I’d it as two ships passing out in the ocean one going faster than the other. As one passed the other from far away view it would seem they would collide.
