Default OPD Amnesty Program

In 2018, the Ocala Police Department (OPD) launched a Heroin/Opioid Amnesty Program and help people get off these addictive drugs. If someone who’s addicted to drugs seeks OPD’s help, they’ll check them into a licensed treatment facility free of charge. Outstanding, we need more treatment and less punishment for simply using. I applaud them.

Wonderful.

It is anyone's guess how many people addicted to these drugs forgo treatment, simply because even applying for treatment means you're admitting to a crime. There should be more of these amnesty programs that offer free treatment. Much more.

Also, another thing that cuts down on community costs is a safe injection location that hands out clean needles.
