Just a note about City Furniture: They do not do returns or store credits for any reason. I bought a lift recliner chair for my brother moving to an assisted living facility. He passed before he could use it within a week. Because it was delivered it is not returnable. No Returns for any reason-No Store Credit. I've not experienced that with any other furniture store.

REFUND POLICY
No refunds or reselections are allowed after delivery or pickup of merchandise.

Like you, I would not have thought to check this before buying.

I have always assumed furniture sales were final after delivery unless there was damage or a defect or it was an explicit “try it first” promotion like some mattresses.

Yeah.. Once out of the store, it is yours. There's no way the store can be certain it didn't pick up pet dander (allergen for some), smoke odors, scent of someone's cologne, etc.
