Default No Air Conditioning in our home 3 weeks now

We now will be going on 4 weeks with no air conditioning in our home. Needless to say, a horrible situation. We hear from the AC installer and AC manufacturer that the part is a supply chain issue, and this backordered part could take "we do not know how long".
Portable unit we purchased is not helping much at all. No answers and nowhere to go from here. Beyond the point of screaming!

Hope you did not pay a deposit but think you need to find another contractor

Our system is only a year old. Still under warranty for years to come. One sure does not expect something like this with a brand new system.

I would bypass the warranty and hire some other company to fix it if I was spending the summer with no A/C. Life's too short. Afterwards, I would think about taking the original company to small claims for the cost of the repair.

If I needed a new HVAC system, I would buy a Carrier unit from Munn's, and not one of those fancy multi-speed compressor units. I don't think you would experience this situation. Even if a part was backordered, I think Munn's would exchange the part from another unit to get it fixed. Using a large company and standard equipment is the best way to prevent long outages.

Great idea but, tried that in that they don't have another unit to pull from. Yes, a large company for sure.

Assuming you live in the villages can the warranty dept be of help to you?

Have you tried calling Trane customer service? If the contractor is an authorized Trane dealer, it is inexcusable for them to leave you without cooling, or some type of backup service during the warranty period.

I'm watching this post closely because my unit is 11 years old and thinking about
replacing it.

I wonder if I would walk into any heating/cooling office and ask how many people are waiting for parts before I order
one from them.

What answer you think I would get?

Hopefully you are monitoring the relative humidity in your home. Don’t let it get above 60% for long or you could get costly mold growth. It might be worth going to Lowel's one Home Depot and picking up a dehumidifier and running it until your A/C issue is resolved. Best of luck.
