Smile Put on your thinking caps !

I've kept a journal (for the grands and great grands someday) on the "pandemic". At first I left out events and other happenings germane only to The Villages, but now decided I wanted to go back and note some things specific to only the villages. I don't need any exact dates (unless someone has kept exact records !) but looking for:
. approximate period the squares were closed, and then when approximately when they "opened" but "tickets/reservations" were required to attend the evening music ?
. anyone remember the approximate dates that the pins were permanently attached in the holes on the greens... apparently the thought at the time was the covid virus could live on metal so no pins could be removed, and anyone remember the approximate date that the pins were returned to normal ?

I would appreciate any other approximate dates as I am now sorry I only recorded nation wide things and now wish I'd written more about Florida and where we live here. All I remember is we were free of all kinds of restrictions much sooner than family and friends in other states... and I think our children were back in school sooner too. Thanks for helping with any time periods you may have noted in your journals or diaries... Thanks !

OP, you could try a search of this site for COVID and look at the associated posts which will have dates, this could provide a basis for your fill in the gaps project. Sorry i did not keep a journal, and I tend to delete old emails.
Thinking about this, there are other terms that might help, CLOSING, REOPENING, TESTING, MASKS, etc.

the pins were never attached in the holes. there were shot pieces of pvc pipes placed in the holes to keep the ball from going in the cup. then they used shorter pvc pipes so the ball could go into the topmost part of the hole, but be retrieved without putting your hand in the hole.

as to their reasoning it followed all the foolish things we were supposed to do to avoid getting covid...didn't work.

For the sports pools, I would say that they were totally shut for maybe six weeks, then opened at one person per lane for one hour sessions for the next two months (with no shower or changing room access) before opening fully.

GREAT thoughts, THANKS ! I was thinking of taking a notebook to the library and searching the Daily Sun... your suggest is much easier, get a cup of coffee, sit at the kitchen table, get out the laptop and my journal, and begin annotation. Thanks again !

Thanks. Probably won't get into that much detail (will just find a short way to describe the various things done during this period), but for years I have read (and marveled in wonderment) about the plagues of the middle ages, and the steps taken in the name of protection. My hope was to make a first hand account to hand down.... "history" has a way of changing facts as time goes on. I just wanted to record the facts as we lived them in our are. Appreciate the reply

I mentioned COVID fairly often on Talk of the Villages.
