I was struck by the headline...seeing Obama and Palin in the same sentence to introduce an opinion piece....

"Obama, Palin met fame before they could grow"



The piece speaks to what we have all heard basically about Palin (the idea of experience seemed to be lost on Obama). I think the piece hits it speaking to the fact that successful and good Presidents "working away in the state house or Senate, one of a number of solons and governors, growing into and grounding one's natural talents -- is what a good president needs."

I remember the hoopla about Palin's lack of experience and not much at all about Obama's EVEN MORE LACK of experience, and I am not a big fan of Palin...it is just a fact that we overlooked this man's total lack of any accomplishment outside of running for something.

"On election day 2008, Obama had been in the Senate for less than four years, two of which he had spent running for president, and Palin had spent less than three years as governor of one of the country's most remote and least typical states. Are their problems aligned with their so-called "good fortune"? Unhappily, yes."

It is a good read and food for thought for anyone who supports either of them and a good reminder to have as we look at future nominees !

Basically a good article and analysis of these two personalities compared to fledglings of the past. I enjoyed it.

Sarah Palin embodies a more traditional platform of American values and excellence and pride and total love of country, coupled with a good humor and forthrightness that appeals to me. Obama doesn't seem to have this innate and obvious love of country evident in any thing he's said, much to his discredit. It definitely will be interesting to see where these two figures advance in our history.

Basically a decent opinion.

It is kind of funny when you know the Washington Examiner paper, though. It is a free tabloid sized paper that is given away each day for riders on the Washington DC bus and subway routes. It is an offshoot advertising paper of the Washington Times which is the conservative answer to the Washington Post. Since both newspapers have gone through extensive changes to their print editions (circulation has gone down dramatically for both since on-line editions are available), the only good use for either paper is wrapping the garbage.

I remember criticizing McCain for picking Palin *specifically* because he could no longer use "inexperience" as a debating point.
