Default The Failure of Leadership in the NG Leaked Documents

Accused leaker Jack Teixeira ordered to stop “deep diving” classified info

So the NG document leaker didn't respect direct orders, went into documents he didn't need for his job, and he had been visibility asking inappropriate questions about security and taking notes, which is not allowed. But no one stopped him or relieved him of his duties

Not dismissing his behavior, he should be punished severely. But the leaders didn't actively restrict his access to his job, and expected him to follow orders. However, leaders should always have a plan for rogue employees, just assuming everyone is honest and truthful because they lied under oath is naive and lazy. Military entrance background checks are only to get you in, after that, you are on your own, and can be flipped at any time or be persuaded by other means. . and this is in particular with intelligence.

The criminal mind is much more creative than the average mind, because it has different motives than most can see. Excellent read on the same topic: "Talking to Strangers" , Malcolm Gladwell, and the first chapter is all about "Ana Montes" case where no one was convinced she was a spy.

Hanging might be appropriate in this case.

Before I retired this young man would’ve been my subordinate. This should have never happened! After the first incident he should have been removed from that work space, and an immediate review of his clearance initiated. The Intel folks in that secure facility are also going to be in hot water over their negligent oversight!

Theory X, Theory Y management; for some years now there has been a decided movement in the teaching of management in grad schools, away from Theory X management and toward Theory X. The underlying premise being to lessen, or blur the lines between supervisor and employee, and to work more as equal partners, than "boss" and "employee", or as one of my grad school professors called it "dictator" and "worker bee". The goal being, you get better results with honey than with vinegar. This philosophical change in many grad schools took place at about the same time that we, as a nation, began a philosophical change in attitude concerning parenting, that a parent should be a friend, a companion, a supportive cheerleader for their children, not the dictator, enforcer, and chief punishment officer. While both views, concerning management philosophy, and philosophy of parenting have both positive and negative points, as usual, our society has swung FAR to the more lenient side of both, and again, as usual, there is no balance and this has resulted in very casual, undisciplined, even "sloppy" behavior in the work place, and a reluctance of managers in many fields to impose any actual discipline. Same can be said for young people who ignore our nation's mandatory public education laws, whose parents in some cases are actually frightened to set any standards and expectations. So in summary, why would we NOT have anticipated the result across all areas of government and corporate life ?
