Dysan cordless is just as effective and much easier to use for day to day use.

I had one years ago and loved it. If they are still made the same, you'll need some where to dump the sludge you pull out of the carpet. I had a large bucket with drilled holes in it that i kept outside obviously. Mine was a canister which made it ackward to pull through the house. Not sure I'd recommend for the older crowd.

They work good but they're too expensive. They're also heavy, and most seniors will prefer something they can easily push around and not have to lift up. Dragging a canister of water around wherever you need to vacuum is a pain. We had one, it worked great, but it was just too unwieldy, and too much work to keep it clean. You can't "just" dump out the water and dirt. You have to clean that canister every time.
For $1500+ I'd rather buy a Dyson for under $400, and go out to dinner more often instead. |

I agree, the Rainbow must be cleaned and dried after every use or you will have a stinky mess and possible a mold filled container. And I wouldn't want to use a "stick" vacuum for the whole house.
We love the Dyson Ball vacuums. Extremely easy to maneuver. Easy to empty the canister. This one is on sale for Prime Day Amazon.com |

We have had 2 in the last 50 years and still use today. Pros: Cleans incredible well, all attachments are on canister and readily available, separate floor and beater bar carpet attachments. Dust & dirt is not longer airborne once it goes onto water in canister (great for those with allergies/respiratory issues). Cons: canister unit and requires filling with water and emptying after each use. Expensive, not light weight.
For really deep cleaning, I use my Rainbow. For most every day, light vacuuming I use my Shark Rocket. Could not be more pleased with either of my vacuum choices; just depends on type of cleaning. If you have shedding animals, I would recommend Rainbow. |

Have had 2 Rainbows in 45 years, long lasting, excellent cleaning. Not just for vacuuming and considering all uses worth the money.

I have owned a Rainbow vacuum for years. However, at some point I discovered the Miele cannister vacuum which uses bags is superior: easier to pull, lighter weight, stronger suction, easier to change hepa bag after use, no worry about tipping over, longer hose, longer wire, way larger hard floor attachment, auto cord retract.

We had Dysons for years…loved them. My husband bought a Tineco…love it more!!! Picks up better, has a light on front to see debris better, has all the same attachments, comes with TWO extra filters and much quieter. Also, less cost. I also think they are part of the Amazon Prime Day shopping discounts.
