Heh. Charge what the market will bear, I guess.

But in my not-so-humble opinion, vanity is the primary motivator here. Before we moved to TV my wife's hairdresser was located in Duluth, MN and we lived south of the Twin Cities (both of us lived for several years in Duluth, which is where we met). Every six weeks, like clockwork, we'd drive the 400 mile round trip to Duluth and back so my wife could get her hair done. It wasn't a chore: we'd make a day of it, doing some shopping, eating at favorite restaurants, etc., and it was a day we could spend together (work life made that iffy, sometimes). But the cost was $140 per session with the hairdresser. We thought for years that we were the only ones doing that. Not even close. One woman drove up to Duluth from Iowa for the privilege.

Me? $20 covers a cut AND tip by Tom at Cal's Barber Shop in LSL. Perfectly satisfactory. Then again, men aren't as vain as some (most?) women appear to be.

Definitely out of touch. My daughter pays $350 + Tip in Boston.

Shave it all and wear a wig. You get to pick and change styles, cuts, colors, lengths, textures. Get a few of them and switch them out with your moods. Two wigs at under $200 for the pair at Ace Wigs (dot) com are good for 2 years if I take good care of them. Shampoo, conditioner, a wig stand, under $50 total and will last you longer than the wigs do.

Yes, and that doesn’t include the air fare to Paris, France to get the bangs shaped … as a politician’s wife does. Vanity is correct. I personally, don’t like the way salons handled my hair and now do my own, with the exception of a blowout and professional make-up for special events.

I started cutting and doing my wife's hair color during COVID lock down. Got pretty good at it.
She will not go to hairdressers any more.
$176 to $300+!!!! I am saving her a fortune
I see a new, very expensive fishing rod and reel coming my way shortly, and no arguments!

Hey. Cal's Barbershop does "The Villages Cut" for women for under $20! Looks good on SOME folks.

Cal's at Colony Plaza charges $16 for men and $19 for women. I keep waiting for a gender discrimination claim.

Probably charges by the number of hair on the head?
