Default Shelter dog of the week: Zeus

Zeus loves belly rubs, kisses and attention. And he’d love to come home with you! All animals adopted at the shelter are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped and have received heart worm and flea prevention medication. In addition, dogs are tested for heart worm disease. Adoption fees are currently waived. The shelter is open daily

He looks so adorable. Some kind of boxer-pit mix maybe.

It's appalling how many Pit Bulls and Pit mixes are in Florida shelters. Where do they all come from? Why are so many people breeding them then dumping them? I don't know the exact statistic, but it seems about 90% of shelter dogs are Pits.

I once volunteered at a no kill animal shelter. At that time about 1/3 of the dogs there were Pitt Bulls. They arrived at the shelter for different reasons, none fair to any dog. They come from people that are too irresponsible to care and they see these dogs as money makers.
