Depends on the depth, I would think.

Back in the day (slightly before my day but not that much) most homes in the rural farming area I grew up in had outhouses rather than indoor biffies. A relatively popular halloween trick would be for a group of young people to sneak onto the property after dark, pick up the outhouse, move it back maybe three feet, and cover the resultant hole with tarpaper. Great hilarity ensued whenever an unsuspecting bathroom-goer plunged into the abyss, so to speak.

I don't know. I never knew anyone who actually was the victim of this particular shananigan, so it may have been just a rural legend. But knowing many of the families in the area, I wouldn't have been surprised.
