Has anyone played Churchill Greens Executive Golf Course since upgrade?
It was dire for a long time before being closed for renovation

"Until further notice". Well, that helps a lot. Briarwood was supposed to be done by October. Now it's just "until further notice".

$5 million to dig up the greens, tees, and bunkers, and replace them with worse sand and grass, and call it a "renovation". They literally dug up holes to fill in. You should see the bunkers on Briarwood. We used to have sand, now we have mud. It's like they dug up the dirtiest beach at Galveston and dumped it here.

Meanwhile -- the Villages Eflyers model airplane club has to beg for two mornings a week to fly on a practice field at the Polo Grounds, while the developer reserves a few hundred acres north of 466 for commercial development someday. For the cost of a day's wages on the Briarwood boondoggle, they could have mowed a few acres for one of the largest clubs in the villages to use until the next Hobby Lobby comes along. Heck, for half the cost of any one of the pellet gun club's three ranges, they could have built us a pavilion and a runway.

But, I guess then they wouldn't have had 5 million to ruin an executive golf course with.

Hopefully they got better fill and sand for the Hilltop "renovation".

Same thing happened last year when Mira Mesa was renovated. It finally opened up in late January. Riley Grove and Mira Mesa were both closed down for renovations at the same time. Riley opened up in October. That’s the difference between an Executive (owned by the CDD’s and operated with amenity fee $$) and the Championships (for profit businesses operated by the developer). When Briarwood finally opens, there will be some kind ribbon cutting public relations event just like with Mira Mesa.

Yes, I played Churchill yesterday - the course is in excellent shape, the greens are fantastic (very fast, almost like championship greens). However, didn’t notice much change in course layout or condition of fairways, but then again we’ve had little rain. Much improved IMHO.

I basically agree. Tees and greens are way better.

Now if you can get players to repair their ball marks it might last a while.
