Default Citrus Grove Gate Damage

As residents of Citrus Grove know. We have our gates damaged at least once per week.
This is a major expensive.
Why can't Meggison be considered a main thoroughfare like Buna Vista or Morris Blvd and do away with the gates?

It changes from a 4 way to a 2 lane with the golf cart intersection at the gate for safety. Anyone that damages the gate pays 200 for the repair. Cameras are on the gate 24/7. Construction is the main problem right now.

Answer: Try crossing over Meggison from the pro shop to the starter shack at Southern Oaks. The cart crossing is already misplaced by not being directly behind the gate like most in TV. Their location about 80-100 yards "downstream' allows vehicles entering Citrus Grove to be accelerating by the time they reach the crossing and those exiting have not yet slowed down. That crossing should be right past the gate or a tunnel should have been built. It is a major accident waiting to happen. Removing the gate would be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Past Sawgrass, Meggison is considered to be a minor thoroughfare like Moyer and Pinellas. That is why there are no gates when you enter all of the Villages along Meggison.

Golfers appear to easily cross Pinellas and Moyer, so why is it hard to cross Meggison?

The crossing at Pinellas and at Moyer are right behind the gates. The entering traffic is stopped and you can watch the gate arm. The exiting traffic is at a crawl because of the gate. Totally different at southern Oaks, as I already described.
Also, at most gate crossings you can go 1/2 way across and stop---at Citrus Grove it is "all or nothing"

I was thinking of the carts having to cross Pinellas down near Bonifay.

They don't have to go straight across. They can turn into the cart lane and merge about 50 yards later and turn left.

Way more traffic, and the golf cart crossing is poorly placed.

Did you miss this post?

"It changes from a 4 way to a 2 lane with the golf cart intersection at the gate for safety"

Pinellas and Moyer are two lane roads, not a 4 lane road like Meggison is as it approaches the gate @ Citrus Grove...

The golf cart traffic is going to go up exponentially once the Bexley bridge opens up to golf cart traffic. Anyone north of Meggison will have to cross there to get to the bridge.

OK, that makes perfect sense. Since we don't have a golf cart and don't play golf on the 18-hole courses, we have no idea of the problems you cart riders encounter.

If we had to cross Meggison in a golf cart, we would probably go around the pickleball courts and get onto Meggison farther south and then pull onto the car lane and then turn left onto the golf course.

It’s not hard at all. People just can’t drive, have no patience, and love to complain.

I was behind a semi with roof trusses on the back. The trusses stood out about 5-6ft from the right side and I saw him knock off the gate. How many houses needed trusses while building past homestead?
The golf cart crossing after the gates on meggison is a safety issue and somebody is going to get hurt. They should have put a tunnel under meggison.
As for patience, I’m tired of hearing that. Have you experienced the traffic on meggison? Probably not. You can wait minutes to get across even in a car, and it’s not going to get better anytime soon.
There are gates on Morse, right after 466 going northbound, and it goes from 2 lanes to 1.

One thing that would help is putting in a traffic light for golf carts crossing Meggison, like they have on the roadway at Colony. It is only going to get worse once things start opening up across the Toll Road, i.e. Eastport, golf courses, etc.
