I lived in the Santa Monica mountains and had 2 dogs. Saw coyotes frequently. If I only saw one small one, I was ok, but a pack, no way. They have been known to take dogs that were on a leash.

On the news recently in Swampscot, Ma. Dog walker with two beautiful dalmatians was surrounded by a small pack of coyotes, I think six coyotes, the dalmatians managed to fight them off.

The coyote is great if it sticks to eating vermin and squirrels etc. But, we are slowly destroying their habitat and driving them out to look for domestic animals.
