Default Wow the rain!!!!

When someone used to say "Oh it's going to rain all day" I used to be able to say quite confidently that "It never rains ALL DAY", but I no longer can say that. The incessant rain this weekend has been unprecedented in my experience. I've tried many ways to find out exactly how many inches has fallen, but have not been successful. Do you know the source of this info?

I have found the best and most accurate way is to buy a rain gauge for your back yard. I have seen posts about rain amounts in the villages that can be all over the place given the size of it. If you use any weather app that data could be coming from miles away and can vary by inches with the amount of rain you may have had. So to answer your question, I would not trust any source as accurate for your exact location when it comes to inches of rain (or as in the case up north…snow, LOL)

Last year in the late spring the ponds were low, low, low. I'm hoping all this rain means the ponds will look fine this year.

Below are some interesting links. It looks like the rainfall so far over the past two days is about 1.8".

Living on the west coast of Washington state, there were times the misty rain would go on for many weeks at a stretch. Our driveway stayed wet for months at a time, and the cloud cover never broke. This is nothing.

Haven't you been here for a hurricane? It rains a lot heavier than this and a lot longer than this.

I was stationed in Ft. Lewis and I know what you mean.
And the high country or Eastern Wahington got the snow.

Amazon has a multitude of gages, but if you just want simple put out any vessel that is flat bottom sit on flat surface away from any structure, measure with a ruler

You can download an app called PWS Monitor. It basically hooks you up to people’s back yard weather stations. I tie into a few here in the Fenney area as well as some other locations world wide. It gives high temps, low temps, wind speed, dew point, rain fall amount….just to name a few.

I wouldn’t want the weather we had this weekend often, but I rather enjoyed it the last couple days. Both days I was able to swim laps in the sports pools, at the time of my choosing, and had the entire pool to myself. Then both days I was able to play 18 holes of Championship golf starting at 3:00, for the price of 9 holes, and both rounds took just under 3 hours on practically empty courses (yes, I got wet and was restricted to the cart paths, otherwise the rounds would have been under 2 1/2 hours). Plus, I didn’t have to water the sod I just planted and it’s going to be sunny when we get our new roof later this week. All in all, it was a great weekend : )

In our rain gauge, as of around 4:00pm, we have received 2 inches. We are located in Santiago. The golf courses are going to be soggy tomorrow!

We have a neat-looking rain gauge the hubby put in the flowerbed out front. It's basically a brass wire spiral sculpture with a glass beaker stuck through the spiral.
