Red face Lost yardage

I noticed that I am pretty consistantly 10-15 yards shorter with my irons here than in MN. Is it the air or am I just regressing? Any thoughts appreciated.

So how far do you normally hit a 5 iron in the snow in MN...?

If I shot 1-15 yards shorter, I'd be turning around to go get my ball! The Villages Florida

Altitude makes a difference. If you were to go to Denver and hit the ball it would go farther than the difference you are describing here. My ball travels farther in Indiana than it does here and it is the altitude that makes the difference. Run a google map of where you play in MN and then run a map of here and look at the difference in the altitude you will be amazed. There is one club difference between here and Indiana perhaps the same for MN vs FL.

I have heard this several times before.

Thank you. I did look at the elevation comparison...1200+ feet in MN to about 100 feet in Marion County. I'm hopeful that's the explanation for the lost yardage.

Remember MN is up on top of the world (just look at a globe) and the ball will roll further!

My neighbor and I have both noticed the same thing, at first I thought the yardage was off, but I checked and its right on, guess we`re just getting slower with our swing.

Default Lost Yardage

Also lost yardage, thought it was clubs, balls, age...
Went to the Golf Academe and tried some clubs = no diff.

Talked to an instructor and he said "In Florida you will lose 10 to 15 yards, also you need to hit more behind the ball as well as down on the ball".

His advise has given me back about half the yardage I lost but took some time to adjust to the new way of hitting (not always doing it correctly yet).

Just some info if your interested...

Default It could be the two for ones at the square.........

I believe the higher humidity here, the saturated air grabs on to the golf ball and makes it heavier and holds it back. It stands to reason that it takes more effort to push that golf ball through the heavy moisture filled air here.

I don't really believe that. I made it up. I am trying to think of reason why my golf drive is going down the toilet.....just like the area around my eyes and ......oh never mind.

I would guess the golfers are a little more lushier rather than the fairways. Too many extended happy hours in TV.
