Default Championship Golf waves - When exactly is "evening wave"?

I've been looking into booking my first championship course. I'm a little confused about the wave system, but also I don't see mentioned when the evening wave is.

I see this from the website: "Waves
refer to the time tee times are available. The “morning wave”
begins at 7:28 and ends at 9:28. The “afternoon wave” begins at
11:56 and ends at 1:56."

Is the "evening wave just 1:57pm and onwards?

Sort of.

The "Evening Wave" begins at approximately 4:00 pm., depending if it's a 27 hole golf course or an 18 hole golf course. It begins when there are "open" holes, because the players in the 2nd wave have completed part (or all) of their round. Which is why the afternoon wave begins earlier at an 18 hole golf course.

The evening wave is essentially "first come, first served", as a practical matter. Some courses it's easy to get on, some not so easy. It all depends on the mood of staff, pace of play, how busy it's been that day and how many "9 hole" players were in their afternoon wave.

If you want to play in the evening wave, call the golf shop about an 1.5 hours after their last 2nd wave tee time and ask them when you're likely to get out for the evening wave.

It sounds more complicated than it is.

Default Watch Your Booking Time

Contemplate the upcoming time change when you book. Right now it gets dark at 645. In two weeks you are looking at a little after 530 for your last hole.

Depending on the time of year there are actual tee times in the system for the evening wave - 4:20 to 6:04 - A lot depends on Sunset and sometimes you can get out earlier if the last "Turn" from the Afternoon wave has been made.

This whole thing where getting a tee-off depends on an employee's mood seems insane.

I guess that booking evening wave online is out of the question too?

As mentioned above, sometimes of the year you can book the evening wave online, but that doesn't really mean much, as they don't know what time the "last turn" will take place in real life.

When I said it sometimes depends on who your talk to it, the Pro Shop staff is supposed to have the information on the likely time the evening wave will start, but they don't always.

You may be told the "last turn is at 4:30", which is technically correct, but it's possible the Starter knows there's a group lagging 2 or 3 holes behind and he can fit you in before that group makes the turn.

Default Tee time system

It's unfortunate they can't set up a system whereby you could specify the number of holes you want to play when making/requesting a tee time. It would facilitate keeping the courses busier, especially in the afternoon.

Maybe with an AI boost it could be done.

The system is fine as it is. IMO. No need to make the courses "busier."
