Default Mardi Gras

We have friends who would like to visit and someone suggested they come in February for Mardi Gras - can anyone tell me when that is celebrated here and what actually happens?

As far as I remember, there's a nice parade with groups in costume and decorated golf carts, and food and drink and entertainment at the squares. Count on some Dixieland music somewhere; and everything ends at 9PM.

It ain't quite Bourbon St., but it's another fun day in TV.

March 8th is correct - at both squares. However there is NO PARADE. TV has cut back on parades quite a bit over the past few years. We only have parades at the squares on Italianfest, Oktoberfest, and St. Paddy's Day. We have 'celebrations' with no parade for Mardri Gras, Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July, and Christmas Tree Lighting. And we have a Christmas Parade at the Polo Field but nothing at the squares.

Last year in LSL, there was some bead throwing from the balcony over the Sales Office. Fortunately, there was no flashing required. Whew...

Thanks, all - I looked for a TV calendar to see when it was and only found January and some of February - could you please send me in the correct direction. March 8th is marked on our calendar.

Leesburg has a really nice Mardi Gras parade. Some of the Villages entertainers march in it.
