Hello all - We bought in May and are renting our home in January-February only next year and from then on we may not rent it out at all.
Question - I have charged the renter sales tax of 6% and 1% County Tax, we are in Sumter County. Where now do I pay this tax? Also, I read somewhere that once you start paying sales tax, even if your home is empty, you still have to submit a sales tax zero remittance monthly - so I assume you then have to inform the Sales Tax office that you are no longer renting out, or I would have to submit sales tax zero remittances "forever"?? Thanks |

are you sure that sumter county transient tax is 1%? just curious, as it was suspended for the pandemic to encourage renter returns. . and I didn't hear that it was reinstated. read the document published by the state of florida revenue department If you do have to pay a local country tax, just call the local tax department and ask them. . You must file monthly returns or cancel the account with the department of revenue and file a final return within 15 days. There is little in the tax universe more annoying than dealing with sales tax notices
See the Department of Revenue for procedures https://qas.floridarevenue.com/Forms...nt/dr15ezn.pdf Last edited by Babubhat; 12-05-2024 at 08:06 PM. |
