Default Championship Golf Courses

With all the complaining about conditions last year, I feel guilty about not giving credit where credit is due.

I have never seen the Championship courses in better condition than they are right now. I play Mallory, Palmer, Glenview & TDS. With minor exceptions, those courses are all in the condition you might expect at a low-mid tier private country club. They're not Augusta National, but they're in better condition than a lot of the courses that were used for Korn-Ferry 1st & 2nd Stage Qualifying the last couple of months.

& at Palmer and Glenview, all the range balls have been replaced with quality Srixon golf balls. Glenview always used "floaters", but the replacement ball isn't a floater.

A logical conclusion might be, the Developer/Owner heard the complaints last year and decided to address some issues. It's not just happenstance, but a welcome positive step.

Good to hear. Thanks for your report.

That’s great news. Here is hoping there won’t be a deep frost in the next month and a half and the current conditions will remain. Unfortunately, the day of amateur hour free golf on Christmas Day will take its annual toll on the conditions. Wish that tradition would be discounted.

Second that!!!!!! Although I would miss my Christmas day entertainment watching the carnage from my lanai.

But then again, the unraked bunkers, the unfilled divots and the unrepaired ball marks seem to be more the norm than the exception lately. My favorite is to see a rake lying right on top of footprints---do they think that by laying it there the trap rakes itself????

I've only been here for just under 3 months and have played Palmer, Cane Garden, and Bonifay. I've been pretty pleased with the conditions at those places and I hope to expand to other places in the future.

Yes I see unrepaired pitch marks and the occasional unraked bunker. However, instead of complaining about it, I walk around the green and fix the ones I see; especially in the early morning rounds where it appears it is too cold for most others (gives me plenty of time to walk around and look for opportunities). And if I find myself in a bunker, I rake my spot and any other spots I see that went unraked; same with divots. I have no control what others do, but I have control over what I choose to do when I see something.

I've been enjoying playing nice courses at reasonable prices for a change (the good public courses in my old neck of the woods were all over 100 per round; mid-level in the 80s). And I love being able to go to nearby exec course after work to play 9 for free and get some iron practice and exercise (I walk those). So far, TV has met my expectations, and then some, for golfing. Still can't believe I live minutes away from multiple golf courses and a practice facility.
