Default Silver Plated Anything....

Does anyone know where I could unload a boatload of Silver Plated items.... i.e Tea Service, platters, trophies, and who knows what else.... We have more than I can even put in my car. All is plated... no Sterling... No one seems to want it and I just can't see myself dropping all of that off at The Goodwill.... Does anyone know anywhere that wants or will accept it? Pretty much worth nothing.... except memories.... Won a lot of that stuff in Golf back in the day... TIA~

You might be able to sell at a scrap metal dealer (for the silver content), but there are also several antique dealers and shops where you may be able to sell the items. There are several online sites that have the capability to sell items, but since I not used any of these, I will allow others to comment on what works.

We found the same thing, It’s not worth anything we donated ours to charity.

All of mine went into the metal recycle bin.
Kept my only longest drive trophy though.
I was never a big distance hitter, so very proud of that one!

interesting video for anyone wanting to do reverse electrolysis to remove the silver, and sell the scrap metal to a dealer.
and save the silver.

good luck, and there are ways to recapture metals from electronic components as well . . .
maybe the local high school chemistry class can use it for a project?

thinking without a box

Not worth the effort, we set all of our out with a free sign to get rid of it. The polish costs more than the value of serving set.

We donated ours and were grateful that the thrift stores took it. I wonder if anyone every buys it. It was stylish a long time ago but noone wants to polish silver now.

Thousands of items listed for sale, as well as thousands sold on eBay. Different patterns, type if piece , tray for example, are all highly collectible with value. That all takes effort to dispose of this way, easy way donate it to one of the charity thrift stores.

The majority of them were sold for under $30 for complete tea service sets. The way high $2,000 items are part of a money laundering scheme just like $5.00 value old postage stamps selling for thousands of dollars.

Might suggest that you donate all of your items to Bargains and Blessings in Wildwood. B&B is a mission from New Covenant United Methodist Church which resells items such as yours. All of the proceeds from the sales goes to various missions of charity. You donations will help people in need.

Try Wildwood Auction. They helped me sell most everything after my mom passed. Other auction houses told me no one was buying the items, but it all sold.

Thank you all for the info.... I have looked at selling online or various other options but, quite honestly, with probably some 50+ pieces... the time and effort to photograph, list, sell, ship and not to mention probably have to "polish" it for pictures just isn't worth it...... not for a couple of hundred bucks.... probably equate to two or three bucks an hour in my labor.... just NOT worth it. I will google any refineries around here but not going to drive over an hour to make 100 bucks.... We did sell all of our silver... made out really well.... got all new appliances for the house. Can't take it with ya when you go and the kids DON'T WANT IT!!!!! Next up... China/Crystal.... no one wants that either.... SMH!!!
