Since moving to The Villages four months ago, I’ve been blown away by all the incredible stories people have, stories about their careers, life challenges, adventures, and everything in between.
I really think this place is a goldmine for storytelling, and I want to capture some of those experiences in a way that preserves them for others to hear. My idea is to record audio only interviews where people can share their life stories or notable events in their lives. As well as allow them to be completely anonymous if they prefer. There won’t be any comments allowed on the audio stories, and there’s no hidden agenda just an honest space to highlight and archive the stories for others to hear. And if anyone is interested in the project, just let me know as well. |

I'm passionate about technology, cameras, and everything in between, so creating a high-quality podcast would come naturally to me.
The challenge, however, would be finding guests—I’d never want to inconvenience anyone. I’ve always believed that people generally carry incredible stories, experiences that could entertain, inspire, or help others. I’d love to provide a space where guests can share freely, whether anonymously or through audio-only, so they feel comfortable and genuine in their expression. Over the past few months, I’ve heard some incredible stories—so many unique careers, life paths, and perspectives. The authenticity of the people here, combined with an environment that encourages self-expression, makes me truly appreciate living here. I could look into placing a newspaper ad or finding a platform that makes connecting with potential guests easier. The people who come to mind with some of the most impactful stories are law enforcement officers, emergency service workers, and veterans. They’ve dedicated their lives to handling the toughest challenges, and their experiences carry incredible wisdom and depth. Documentaries and interviews have always fascinated me, and I believe the guest should always take center stage—giving them the space to share their story in its truest form. It's just a bit difficult to get the trust necessary for interviews with law enforcement/veterans, due to the psychological toll it puts on them. It's often mentioned by them that it's hard to open up to other people who have not done the same job as them. |

One last thought—I know my fascination with documentaries and interviews isn’t something most people share.
Inviting people to interviews isn’t exactly common, so I understand why it might feel a bit unusual at first. Some may be hesitant, and that’s completely understandable. |

It sounds like a fantastic idea. An audio podcast, or even YouTube channel for it would be easily obtainable and easy to maintain. There is such a variety of people who live in this area from all different walks of life and experiences. I think it is something worth sharing and doing!
