Default Question for the EX New Jersey'ians

My wife and I are considering TV in 3-4 years. For those of you who lived in NJ how are the overall costs in comparison? Car insurance, utilities, taxes, dmv, food costs etc. you can leave out property taxes (has to be lower)
Thanks, Harry

We've been here permanently for 3 years and have owned for 5. When we left NJ, our car insurance for our 2 cars was $2600/year. Same cars with the exact same coverage in Fl was $1000. Our NJ house was all electric, about 3000 sq ft. Electric bill was $300 winters and $500-$600 summers. Our bill here has never been over $200, but we do have gas and pay about $40/month. No state tax here. Food is probably the same as certain things are more expensive here and some things are cheaper. Averages out. DMV is expensive the first year as it costs $400 to register a car for the first time, then about $90/year, but there is no yearly inspection inolved. It's up to you to maintain a safe car. All in all, things are cheaper here, but the quality of life in infinitely better.
Where in NJ? We're from Turnersville in the south.

Harry, we've been here since last April. First year... lots of expenses of course. Our new designer home is all electric and the highest bill was slightly over $200 in the height of HOT season. Heating bills were only around $100 a month ....and I cook almost every night! Auto insurance AND cart insurance are less than half of what we paid in Jersey! Food is probably the same.
Gas is killing everyone everywhere! I am sooo happy to be here this past winter and not in NJ! I used to heat my home there with oil. I cannot imagine what those poor people had to pay this past Winter. Just happy to be here! Come on down. You won't be sorry.

We're in Millville and can't wait to get out, but some things have to be taken care of first. Good to hear things are better down there and you don't want to know what I paid for fuel oil last week ($4.19 a gal)
Thanks for the replies
