I have Sirius satellite radio in my car and I would love to have it in my home. I need to know what kind of receiver I have to buy, what it costs and what is the monthly subscription cost?

I believe you just need to get an "in-home" package, a few hundred dollars. Well worth it if you like listening rather than watching tv. I have XM in my car and love it.

I also have in my car. You can add an internet only add-on subscription for about 3.00 per month. I have an I-Pod Touch and I play that thru a vizio sound bar and I also use a I-home radio. Of course you can always play it on your computer. They have radios that play satellite radio in your home, try going to Sirius/XM website.

Depends on the brand and model of radio. Most make auto and/or home kits. Since you have auto set-up you need home setup. It basically consists of a cradle that will accept an antenna input (also comes with kit) and a power plug. Presto - you can move it from car to auto and back again. If your model is not too old you can probably get the home kit from Best Buy. Also their website may have pertinent sale info. Kit runs a little less than a 100, again depending on make and model. No additional subscription fee, unless as mentioned earlier you want to use computer. I have fastened the little antenna (5in square) on the side of my house. Can't beat it....

We have it in the car (for those 1,000 miles trips it is great!) and just move it to the cradle in the house. It works great! Docking station and indoor antenna. We didn't drill through the roof of the car and can move it from car to car.

I'm pretty sure you can get what you need from Radio Shack or Best Buy. You just need the kit to hook up to your home sound system and then upgrade your Sirius subscription to include the unit you bought. I have XM and that's what I did.

I am listening to SiriusXM now as I'm writing this.....on the laptop. I've got it on the iPhone and iPad as well. Love it! Go to www.siriusxm.com

FYI The online version of SiriusXM does not have ALL of the channels that the regular version. However, there are plenty of channels to make most people happy.....certainly for moi!

Another viewpoint....

If you have a smartphone (iPhone, Android), you might be able to stream your music to your home system or even your car system.

I have XM in my car, as a trial. However, I have discovered that I can connect my Droid X to the car stereo and listen to Pandora or In-Radio for free. I can also connect the phone or the iPad to the home stereo and listen there too. Both of these options are free from monthly charges, although In-Radio costs $0.99 for the app on Apple...Free for Android. Of course, this option will also allow you to listen to your own recorded music. In-Radio allows you to listen to radio stations all over the world, including talk radio stations.

I use the headphone jack on both the Droid X and the iPad to connect to the stereo. It's much easier than purchasing special cables to use the docking posts.

Just another alternative... In my opinion, much more flexible and cheaper, if you already have the other devices...ie smartphone
