Default Washer and Dryer Setup

Does anyone know why the washer and dryers are setup backwards in the Amarillos? Our dryer is on the left, the washer is on the right. This means the dryer door opens on the wrong side making it awkward to move clothes from the washer. Have noticed this in a couple of homes we have rented in the last couple of years, and of course, it's that way in the house we bought. Any reason why we can't switch them?

On our new dryer we could change the direction the door opened. You may check that first and see if that is possible. It would be easier than moving the washer and dryer.

We also changed the direction of the opening of the door. Not hard to do.

The setup could be due to the location of the drain and water supply lines or dryer vent. If the builders can save an extra 5 ft of pipe on each model X thousands of homes = big bucks.

We have an Amarillo built in 2006. It's set up with the washer on the left and the dryer on the right. The dryer door opens to the right...no problems here.

Our home built 11 yrs ago with the units reversed as well. Who knows...makes no sense but when we did buy new w/d we had the installer change to the correct set up so yes it can be done.
