Default Publix or Walgreens

The closest place to us for prescriptions are Publix or Walgreens in Colony. Do you have a preference....which do you think is better ie: does not screw up the prescriptions, they are ready in a day or two, etc. Did anyone have problems transferring their prescriptions to either place?

Default Consider Sam's Club

not as convenient, maybe, but might be cheaper - you can go online (I think) and check costs, or call them. Go on a sample day and you've got lunch!

I used Walgreen's approximately 9 months ago and found the staff and pharmacist unfriendly and unwilling to help. However, this could have changed. For immediate requirements I've used Publix but they are always busy. You may have to wait a few minutes. Most of my ongoing prescription needs are filled through Prescription Solutions which is a large medical warehouse. My doctor faxes them and they not only ship at no cost to me but automatically take care of billing Medicare and my insurance company. My costs for generics is practically non-existent. Virtually no human contact but sometimes that's a good thing.

The Medicine Chest in LSL has saved us money. They are really good about finding generics and we like the small town pharmacy feel. May not be as close as Colony for you but you can always find a good place to eat in LSL.

We have been using Walgreen's Pharmacy for 18 years. We like the fact that when we travel, a Walgreens was never far away. And, at tax time, we just print up our summary for the entire year.

Until retirement, and moving to T.V. full-time we used a home-town pharmacy which was great. That being said, once we moved to T.V. we began using Walgreens as it's convenient to where we live PLUS we can be anywhere in the U.S. and pick up our RX's. Just did that this summer when we were back to our home-roots and it was great. It was a bit hard to get used to Walgreen's (not the friendly home-town feeling we'd been used to) but I have to say once we got into what their procedures are it's great. We can go online and make our re-newal requests known and even tell them approx. when we'll pick it up. Once the snow-birds come back though will have to remember to do this either earlier in the day or later since there will always be waiting and a line.

Other than that would have gone with Publix but didn't know how it would work if we were "up north"...or anywhere else in the U.S.

We've used Publix before moving here and also now that we live here. No problems and never more than 1 person in line before me. We just call in for refills and pick them up. Convenient because we always need something at Publix anyway.
The Publix I'm referring to is at Colony.

We were Walgreen's customers before moving here last year and chose to stay with them. As other posters have stated, it's very convenient to go on-line (or go into) and request a refill at a Walgreen's near you when you are traveling. We shop at the Colony store--pleased with the staff there store-wide.
