Default How did you find your agent?

We are beginning our hunt for a (pre-owned) home in TV. How did you find a real estate agent to work with? I know we need both a MLS and a TV agent but how did you select who to work with? Thanks

Several friends recently bought homes over past year. We switched to their agent, June Brine and also Karla Stang in The Villages. We were in touch with June weeks before we came down in July. Told her what we wanted, how much, etc. When we arrived she had a stack of houses with all the detailed information on each. We went to open houses as well. Found our home in five days! Had everything on our list except one thing...it was brand new not a preowned. Both June and Karla are professionals and both are down to hearth, humorous, and now our friends.

We came down a 6-day Lifestyle Preview visit and we were assigned an agent through TV. There was absolutely no pressure. We were told to take a few days, play golf with the tee-times and passes we received through TV and just relax and enjoy the place.

After we met with the agent and looked at homes, we went on our own to open houses and talked to people. We saw a house we wanted to look closer at and called the listing agent through the phone number on their sign in the front yard.

We didn't purchase that particular house, but that agent turned out to be the agent we used as our buyers' agent when we bought our first home two years ago this coming January.

Now we use a different agent through TV. We met him at an open house and really like him. He just helped us buy a home for my father-in-law YESTERDAY! Yea!!

We also have an "outside" realtor we used to sale another house. He is fantastic. He was the seller's agent on our second home purchase and we knew from the beginning we would use him to represent us on any future purchases on homes in TV that are listed by outside agents.

At a villages open house for a new spec home (Tami Beville). She was so personable and stayed after the open house had ended to explain a lot of things, answer questions, etc. We just got the feeling she would be a good sales rep and she was very good to work with.

One Sunday I called the main number and got Bobby Gulati who is the absolutely easiest to work with, most knowledgeable agent The Villages hired.

Hi LvmyPug2,

Our MLS Realtor, Linda Sears of Morris Realty, was recommended to us by a friend. She was wonderful. Be sure to get a written Buyer's Agent agreement with whomever you use. That will legally require them to represent only your interests in the transaction. Otherwise, the agent is automatically a "transaction agent" representing both sides to facilitate the sale.

You can also use a Villages agent to buy a resale. You can't get a Buyer's Agent agreement, but using both is the only way to see all of the homes listed. We used Nanette Tolleson, the TV sales rep. who was assigned to us. We liked her very much.

The home we ultimately bought was listed through MLS.

P.S., I bet your Pug is adorable!

we found Jean Trueax from the villages sales office,
gave us all her attention and as much time as we needed.
in person and phone calls and e mail, she is a real blessing.
still in contact since we closed in january, her service didn't stop after the check cleared.
