Default Maps on Villages Listings

Does anyone like the new maps they are using for VLS listings? I have given up and started using Lyle sells Florida site. He at least has a map link on every listing. If I really want to see one of the VLS homes real location, I have to go to mapquest or google maps and put the address in. The have some marketing genius that they need to fire.

They really did have good maps that you could drill right down to the exact home and see the detail around it with a lot of clarity. What they have now is useless.

I totally agree. I thought the same thing, "who's bright idea was this"? I loved being able to zoom down on the satellite pic too. Now the map is useless as far as I'm concerned.

Question

Probably another one of the many recent cost cutting measures?

Default A solution

If you highlight (left click hold and drag) the address including the words the villages, FL, and right click and choose map with bing if you use Internet Explorer, or search google using Firefox, a map will appear with the address highlighted.
If you use the google search, and put your mouse over satellite, the google earth option will appear and I really enjoy zooming around TV from all directions.
Hope that helps

Agree the new maps are the pits for home buying use.

The irony is the new maps would be excellent as full sized TV road because the golf cart paths are more clearly displayed than on any other TV map I've seen.

So, the maps could be good for something. Unfortunately they are not good for how they are used and not used for what they could be good for. Go figure.

Lyle is the realtor we have used on the MLS side and he is stellar. However, the Villages listings are not on his site. To see all the listings you have to use both sites.

JimJoe, I highlighted the address with left click, then right clicked it, and no map option came up. Only a copy, select all, or search inbox for the highlighted address. No map option. I use firefox.

Yes eweissenbach I know you need both to see all the listings. My point was TV lost the opportunity to sell me another home. Using their site to view available homes is just to frustrating. And when I sell a home, which I will be doing next year, they have lost my business and I will go with Lyle.

Thank you Gracie, we would enjoy you folks as neighbors as well.

Unfortunately that location just does not work for us for a couple reasons. We do not want a new home or do we want to be that close to 466. Just a personal preference. We like our windows open when ever possible and traffic noise might be an issue for us. And we much prefer a resale home for the value equation.

Actually the home we will sell is the designer rental we have in Poinciana at some point. And we will buy another rental or upgrade to a premier and keep our Sunset Pointe home as the second rental.

We are looking in Sunset Ridge and Pennecamp for a premier home. So far have not found what we want, but are continuing to look. Also looking at the option of an addition to our current home to increase the size of the guest bedroom and add a third bath for the pool. We did buy the ranch around the corner to provide a golf cart garage and that works well but would still prefer it to be attached to the home.

So far both rentals are working out extremely well so will keep them as long as that is the case. So still exploring most options, but new home is not one of them.

If you are using Firefox, get the addon "Map This" then you can do as l2ridehd suggested - highlight, right click & Map This. The only problem is for the newer sections where google maps haven't caught up with all the new addresses yet thus I believe the reason for the new maps The Villages are ussing on the listings, their maps have the brand new addresses that no other map has. It might be nice for them to also add add a link that directly opens google maps but "Map This" is a work around.

About the new map on The Villages site. I just used them. They have a click to enlarge and it works and you can drag it around and see where you are in relation to other places. It does have the street names.

If I'm interested in details about a specific property, I always end up cutting-and-pasting its address into the corresponding County Property Appraiser site to get background information anyway. Their maps work fine.
