I was not going to share this as I thought it was an isolated incident but in the past few days I have been made aware of at least three additional incidents.

There was no indication of a problem prior to the palm falling over nor was there any strong wind.

You can add six more queen palms that I know of that have also bitten the dust. We contacted the college and were told the best thing to do with queen palms is not plant them. When they do get frost damage it takes two years , but eventually they will fall down just as your picture shows.

In Southern Nevada they are all over the place, but we have no humidity to speak of. We do get frost in the wintertime, but it doesn't seem to bother the Queen Palms here. So maybe it is that your palms are over saturated due to the humidity, and then when the frost hits they really sieze up.

I had two queens but they got to be such nuisances and one became diseased so I removed them both.

I read the link, thanks for that. It clearly says all palms are attacked by this fungus. It is not a disease of Queen Palms, it is a disease of all palms. At least 65 different palm species have been documented to be victims. It may seem like it is a Queen problem in TV because we have so many Queens.

I have noticed that the developer doesn't plant Queen palms. That tells us something about their ability to thrive in this part of Florida.
