Default HomeGoods Store Update

I was in the HomeGoods store in Orlando yesterday (don't you just love a bargain) and when I was checking out I asked the manager why they didn't have a store in the Villages. She said a store in TV had been in the works for awhile and she had just heard that they had finalized approval. She did not know exactly where the store would be or exactly when they would be starting building but she said it was the next store to be built. I asked if this was just another rumor and she said absolutely not. Now if we could just get a Trader Joe's and a Costco, TV would be perfect.

I'll settle for Costco's, but wifey will be happy to hear the HomeGoods news.

Thanks for the heads up.

Nice! Thanks for the update!!
Costco is only about 1/2 hour away right now, correct? We drive 40 miles currently to Costco. I really like them so much more than BJs. Especially the eyeglasses!

It takes over an hour to get to Costco's. We usually go there once every 5 or 6 weeks.

Lincap,
Thanks for the info. We have emailed Costco our wishes for a location near TV. It never hurts to let them keep hearing from us.

I've always wanted to check out a Costco......according to mapquest, any way you slice it they say it is about an hour away from The Villages, closest one being in Alamonte Springs?

Yes, that is the one we go to. There is a HomeGoods less then a mile away from Costco's.

That's why the wife and I who were constant Costco shoppers in N.J. let our $50.00 yearly membership lapse not too long after we moved here. The hour ride coupled with the fuel costs, and the half a day lost to accomplish the trek, didn't seem worth the trouble anymore. Especially since we weren't going to go as often as we would have liked to.

So, for $40 we joined Sam's Club. They had a promotion where you got $40 off your order so, in effect, it was free. They have a good enough selection of goods and services and they're right down the road.

I have emailed Costco to advise them of the huge market they're ignoring in this fastest growing area of Central Florida. Maybe if enough people do so?

We make the trek every once in a while, but do remember there is still COSTCO online and we use it quite a bit. Of course it's not for juice, shampoo, cereal, etc, but you can get good deals on some other items you might want or need.

I lived less than a mile from Costco in CA and it was where I did most of my shopping. I do miss the store and even though it's a full day's venture, I look forward to our southward journey to shop....and having Home Goods right across the street is an extra perk...

Up here we belong to both BJ's and Sam's Club....where we are in Leesburg, BJ's is south of us in Clairmont, where Sam's is north of us where you guys are.

It seems the prices at the Villages Sam's club are a bit higher then other ones we've been at....I believe many chains do this because they think they simply can due to the local demographic.

As much as I love our Florida home, due to the many lakes, etc, a lot of things take much longer to get to then one would first think.

But, to get back on topic, I've never been to a HomeGoods.....I'm sure my wife will find it soon enough once we're down there.....

Been a satisfied member at Sam's for years here in VA...just renewed membership as we will be hopping down to TV by the end of the year (FROGS at last). Emailed Trader Joe's this morning to let them know about the huge market in Central Florida.

That one made me chuckle, Frank. My wife and I will definitely agree with that one.

Thanks for the update. Home Goods = great products at great prices.

With an 80,00 plus population, I would tend to think there is a lot of purchasing power these other stores would be missing out on.

Just sayin........
