Default Renting and Guest vs Resident Passes Question.

Never mind! I just did a "search" and found the answers to my questions.

We will be renting in April and May. The owner is not offering their resident passes be transferred to us. She is indicating that we just get guest passes.

Will the guest pass allow us to golf on the Executive courses? Will the cost be the same as if we had resident passes? Does the guest pass allow use of the activities at the rec centers/pools?

When we previously rented from a different homeowner, they transferred their resident passes to us, so I'm not sure how the Guest Pass system works.
THANKS for your responses!

Guest passes do not give you the same privileges or savings as transferred ID's. For a few days they are fine, for a couple months do not accept that situation.

You cannot use the Sports pools without a resident ID pass- guests passes do not work, Same thing for any classes taken at the School for Lifelong Learning

Sort of sounds like the landlords are staying with friends or nearby and want to continue to use their passes! Hope you haven't signed the lease and tendered any money yet. I agree, not acceptable for 2 months.

If the residents are priority members you would have access to the country club pools and you would get priority tee times on championship courses and the fee would be only $5 more than a resident. You would have priority tee times over just a resident without a priority membership. The draw backs are you could not use sports pools such as Colony or Lake Miona and you would be paying $10 to ride and play executive and $5 to walk. If you are golfers you probably will end up not playing on executive courses nearly as much as you think. They are crowded in the colder months and the pace of play is at a snails pace and remember a lot of these players are new to golf. I am not trying to say anything negative, the courses can still be a challenge I am just giving you another opinion.

Thanks all for your responses! I'm in agreement, it will be a problem if the owner doesn't agree to transfer the Resident IDs. I've sent the wife a note explaining the issues and requesting that she allow us the Resident ID. I included a link to TOTV, where others have explained the differences between the Resident ID vs the Guest Pass.

I think she's relatively new to renting out her home, and I'm hoping that she's just not that familiar with all the issues involved. We'll see what her response is.

I don't believe this is correct. If you'll look at the Priority Membership Application http://www.golfthevillages.com/image...pplication.pdf, it clearly states in several places that it is only for Villages residents and it is non-transferable.

I agree it is not. If you as a priority get a guest pass for a person, you can then make a tee time which includes you with them and they get the same tee time access as you plus a lower rate then someone who is not a priority member. When you get a guest pass, it says priority guest on it but you need to be with them.

Guest passes of a priority resident does allow them priority privileges. I work for GMS who operates the Country Club pools and Championship Golf courses.
I reread my post and everything that is said is correct!!!

YEA! The owner got back to me, and we'll be getting the Resident IDs. I'm relieved to hear that since I was going to have to back out of the potential rental of this particular property, if that didn't happen. To my knowledge, they aren't priority country club members, so I don't need to investigate that further.

It'll be nice being in your wonderful community for two full months. The past few years, I've only been there for May. I should have a really great tan by the time I get home next June 1! May of 2011 was perfect weather. Let's cross our fingers that April/May of 2012 will be equally good. (If only good weather could be in the contract. )
