Default bbq grill question

Just got a new bbq grill and there is a silly little wire with a wire ring on each end that is attached with a chain to grill...What is the purpose of this wire....I know I probably will feel stupid after you tell me, but I just have to know!.....The instructions attached did not give us a clue!

Default The wire that you mention

may be the ring that holds a bottle or something to catch the oil that drips from the meat etc. from the bbg grill. On one bbq a catch cup was included but in the last two bbq's we had to attach our own. It hangs from a hole that is on the bottom of the grill. Hope this helps.

We have one of those also, but this is a mystery....It's like a wire that has been curled at both ends, attached by a chain to grill if that help!

Could be it is to stick a match in to light the grill if the igniter isn't working. You turn the gas on and extend the burning match near the flame ring.
