Default Executive courses

Since I know nothing about golf, except that if you wait long enough, the windmill will allow your ball to go through to the clowns mouth..can someone answer a question. I was asked if the executive courses were regular courses, just nine holes, or if they were par 3 courses. Since I don't want to appear ignorant when waxing eloquently on the wonderfulness of The Villages, I am hoping you can answer this for me. Thank you! By the way, I loved looking at the pictures of the TOTV luncheon and being able to put faces to the names I see every day.

As I recall, because I don't golf much, the Execs are 9 hole par 3 courses with some par 4 holes. A regular course will have maybe two par 3's and two par 5's in each nine hole side; the execs will have maybe 2 or 3 par 4's in the nine holes the rest being par 3's and few par 5's.

My (Irish) mother had three Aces in her TV Exec courses golfing.

The windmill always hits my ball.

Default Well, kind of

Chuck got it partly right. Some of the exec. courses are strictly par 3 courses (Saddlebrook and Bonita Pass come to mind). Many have mostly par 3s and one or two par 4s. At least one (Amberwood) also has a par 5. Some of them have several long par 3's, and for me, from the back tee's play like par 4s (which I like to do if there's no one behind me or I'm playing after hours).

TV is full of executive courses (I think 28 or 29 currently) and they are free to play, if you walk, for residents. The executive courses are relatively short and pretty open, so they are pretty easy to play and designed for speed, as they move a lot of players through each day. They are great for newer players as they are mostly not a difficult test. If you are new to the game they will be a great way to get familiar with golf, but keep moving or you will likely be reprimanded. Don't hunt for lost balls long, don't take 6 practice swings before hitting, don't study putts for 5 minutes, and pick up when you are double par - these things will keep you moving, make your experience pleasurable, and keep your partners and those behind you, happy. Have fun, don't take it too seriously, and enjoy the beauty of the courses.

Thanks for the tips.

I will only play the executive courses as my woods have a mind of their own as to where the ball will land.

Since they are free and walkable, it certainly fits me to a tee, (no pun intended.)
