I like Herman Cain a lot, but I think this breaks the streak of the Florida Straw Poll picking the winner. Now "I only think" this, I could be wrong. But what are the chances of me being wrong?

The answer is obvious, so why get all excited about someone who probably cannot get elected on that platform, and in the remote chance that he does get elected, could never get such ideas made into law. |

I was hopeful when Obama was elected. Even tho I did not vote for him, I was hopeful that he would be able to help the economy and end the wars in the Middle East. Yes, I was excited that finally we had an African American president to prove that we are not the racists that some think we are. I was just too naive to know what he really had in mind, and bizarre as his plans have been, he has been successful in getting alot of them done. Why would I not get excited, even more so, if this man is able to do get elected and accomplish half of what he aims to do? Come on VK, I think I have seen you hopeful on this forum before...Who knows what we can do when God is in control! I believe that someone will come along and upright our sinking ship, only time will prove me right or wrong. In the meantime, I AM EXCITED! |

I have been a supporter of Herman Cain since I first heard him speak. I admit I believed his cause to be hopeless, but still felt the man has an infectious happiness that we have not seen since Ronald Reagan. He has demonstrated his competence as a leader in his business career. He has ideas that can help the US come back from bankruptcy - his 9-9-9 plan. He is not an extremist or an ideologue, but rather a man that gets things done.
Michele Bachman's showing, last place, delighted me. In previous posts I noted that she was a right wing extremist, just as Obama is a left wing extremist. This country needs pragmatists and not extremists. It should be noted that Herman Cain raised only $2.4 million in the second quarter compared to 18 million by Mitt Romney and 85 million by Barack Obama. Cain's support appears to be entirely grassroots contribution with the average donation being $90. |

I liked Herman Cain in these debates and am glad that this Romney/Perry side show didn’t distract voters from the message that we taxpayers are trying to get through to Washington. No more RINOs!

VK....It's really about shaping the platform. Cain's ideas obviously resonate with the people and other candidates will recognize that. They may not adopt his positions and ideas point for point but don't be surprised when their own campaigns start to sound a little more like Cain. That IMO is a good thing. I believe his personal medical story and the ills of government health care reached a lot of voters in Florida and on the national scene. Don't be surprised if he fits snugly into the nominee's cabinet. He would be a formidable opponent on the Obamacare debate.

It would be interesting to hear what some of the loyal opposition thinks about Cain's 9-9-9 plan. He was a math major and says the numbers work. I especially would appreciate VK's assessment as I have profound respect for his grasp of financial matters.

Straw polls used to mean something when not too many people paid attention to them. Now with the unbelievable scrutiy, they mean almost nothing because of all the artificial attention paid to them. Look how long Bachmann was 'in front' after her Iowa win.

Herman Caine likes his idea of 9-9-9 tax system. What are the chances that it would get through Congress? The answer is ZERO.
He is just a business community blowhard who think that a country can be run like a pizza parlor. Okay, Herman, give me a Department of Defense budget with anchovies and extra cheese. Have it delivered in a half hour or it's free. |
