Default Accident at LSL Square Sat night about 9pm

Anyone know what happened? EMS and police were there a long time. I hope it wasn't too serious.

I could see the flashing lights while viewing the square on the web cam. I, too, hope things weren't too serious.
Nothing noted on the incident page for Sumter County fire and police.... http://www.radioreference.com/apps/audio/?ctid=375

A friend was a witness to the incident. It was no accident. A man jumped from a car with a pipe in his hand and accosted another man. He beat the man with the pipe and jumped back into his car and took off, leaving the bloodied man lying in the street. Police were called and the EMTs. Several people were able to provide the police with the license number of the vehicle. The police were there so long because so many people saw the incident and were being interviewed.
Wonder how the Daily Sun will report this?!

Maybe it was not a random thing. Maybe they knew each other or someone paid this person to do bodily harm.

Could have been random. Maybe an exchange about the driver being inconsiderate of people crossing or who knows. It doesn't take much to set off a road rage incident. Doubt if it was set up, too many witnesses for a drive by. The main thing is that this is one of the things I don't miss. There were four people killed and twenty-three wounded in incidents around Chicago this weekend. But those were mostly gang and family related.

Seems extreme for road rage. This happened at the square, right?

Hardly extreme for road rage. I have seen some incidents over the years that would keep you up at night. And a few times it involved someone on the street saying something to someone in a car or vice versa (hence road rage or maybe pedestrian road rage).

I remember one crowed night at LSL this past July and a brand new car caught on fire at the corner of the square by Urban Flats. I never saw it in the newspaper or remember anyone posting about it on here.

I was crossing the street and noticed the car smoking and some guy was laying in the street trying to pull something out from underneath. It started to get some flames and 3 or 4 people were running around trying to get stuff out of the car, suddenly a guy ran up with a fire extinguisher. Within about 30 seconds it appeared to go out, but then the extinguisher ran out and the fire came back. A crowd of maybe 300-400 began to gather round. The band stopped the music and came to watch, I ran over and got my wife and said let's move back in case that gas tanks blows. Finally two fire trucks and a couple of police cars pull up and put out the fire. The car was pushed over into a parking spot and became a tourist area for the rest of the evening. I think it was a brand new black Chevy with Texas license plates, maybe a rental car.

I've seen fights at the square and never saw one reported in the sun. Usually started by a jerk over chairs or someone bumps into someone and spills a drink.
The biggest brawl I ever saw was 4 or 5 years ago at a Christmas tree lightning. Big, big crowd at Lake Sumter. (That's a big part of the problem) People get into fights over parking spots and chairs-there is never half enough)
Right after the lightning, the band stated an electric slide line dance. There was no room and a guy bumped a big lady. She grabbed him by the shoulders and threw him into the chairs which also knocked his wife into the chairs. He got up and put the lady into a head lock and threw her into the chairs. Then everybody got in on it. One side were bashing the man for touching a women. The other side was saying she started it and were bashing the people that were bashing the man. It turned into a full scale brawl. Chairs were flying. Mainly guys punching and women trying to stop their men. I never saw anything like it. People were just so close that everybody was bumping into each other. I think many were drunk.
I got out of there as soon as I could. Never saw anything in the paper.

Before anyone attacks me, remember I have been here many, many years and never saw anything like it before or since.
I love it here but its not all roses and sunshine. Every now and then something ugly happens. I hope they catch the guy with the pipe.

Yea, but these incidences are few and far between. I have been here a year and have never seen an argument or a fight. Kind of boring, huh?

Are you saying that the Daily sun will not report the facts?
