Default Private house inspector

Hi all. My friends are closing on the 7th of Dec. new construction. Would you suggest hiring an inspector? Do they inspect before the closing? Who would you recommend? How much do they charge in general?

Thanks and see ya all soon!!!!!

The most common practice is to do your own initial inspection (your builder will give you 30 days, then take care of any obvious items immediately), then, just before your 1 year warranty runs out, hire a home inspector to do a top to bottom inspection. The local home inspectors will then turn their reports to you and the warranty department for resolution. You will be amazed at the timely response from all involved.
