I will soon be coming to the sunny south to purchase my home. Sure wish I could decide pre-owned or new construction??? I am so looking forward to the Villages lifestyle. I am a retired school teacher from Warsaw Ohio. I am also a 13 year breast cancer survivor....save the "TATA's" I have a miniature Schnauzer names Riley and he too is looking forward to warmer weather!! Am so looking forward to the activities, biking riding, water aroebics classes and concerts....am vry interested in the Life Long Leaning classes available. Does anyone have any words of wisdom before my move.
Thanks....see you all soon. Golf cart...gas or electric????? Sandy Knuth and Riley |

Welcome, you will feel very much at home here. Not only are there many of us survivors here, you will have a whole community of folks that appreciate the beauty of each day. Even before you completely unpack, check out the rec news each Thur., look at the classes, make notes on your calendar, and try some. I think you will be pleased with the choices and how many caring and fun people you will meet.

![]() ![]() Welcome from this 10-year breast cancer survivor! This is the best place in the world you could choose to live out the bonus years you have been given. I was diagnosed 3 years after moving here and I really believe that the fabulous lifestyle here is a big reason I am still cancer free. As for which golf cart to buy, we started with an electric cart but tired of replacing the batteries (not inexpensive). We just purchased our second new gas cart and have found that this is the best option for us. If you can try both before you buy that might help you make your decision. There are pros and cons to both.

Hi Sandy,
I just arrived in TV on Monday evening. I opted to rent for a year so I could learn more about TV and where I wanted to permanently settle. Unlike a lot of the folks here I only had visited once in January of this year before I decided TV was where I wanted to be. After two days I am so thrilled with being here that I can barely stand it. I too am single (well not officially yet, but lets just say no one came to FL with me other than a son and some friends who are all leaving to go back to their homes.) maybe when you get down here we could meet for lunch. Have you spent much time in TV? Suzanne |

Sandy,
I've lived in TV for 11 years. I have no regrets. This is a fun place and there are so many things to do. I never heard of pickleball or clogging before moving here. Now, those are two of my favorite activities. In addition, I joined a gym for the first time in my life. It is 4 minutes away by golf cart! My husband and I selected an electric golf cart. There are pros and cons. It's a personal decision. Welcome to The Villages! |

![]() ![]() You and Riley will love it here! There are so many opportunities to do all the things on your list. For Riley, check out the dog parks! As an added bonus, TV is beautiful and the people are the nicest you will find anywhere. |

I know lots of people disagree with this, but we bought a courtyard villa because the dogs rule our lives and we really wanted them to have a yard. Lots of folks love the underground fencing, but it does not keep people or other animals out of your space. Just about everyone here in our villa neighborhood has one or two furry kids and completely understanding of the occassional bark or two. New versus old is a hard decision...new is great because everything is new and bright and shiny and for the first year any little thing that may go wrong is covered. New means all the neighbors are in the same boat with meeting new people. We are blessed with the best neighbors you could ever have...the ladies get together at least twice a week for cards or games. I teach a bead class once a week. Old is good because the bond will be at least partially paid off and all those things that will cost a LOT are likely done ie: landscaping...removing the awful pine needle mulch (bug/tick heaven), gutters, replacing the carpet with tile or laminate. The carpets are really bad...There is always something. Gas or electric is like the great debate here. Purely a matter of personal choice. We got gas because hubby knows how to do maintenance on a gas vehicle and TV is getting really big. That is the first shock we got when we came here....the place is HUGE....much larger then we ever could have dreamed. The classes at the LLL center are, in my humble opinion, well, unusual. Let me just stop at that. Get a copy of the course manual and form your own opinion. In any case, you will love it here....bring a check book.

![]() I would recommend reading the nuts and bolts section by Zcaveman. You will know your new home choice when you walk in and it feels like "home". Congratulations on surviving breast cancer and I hope you have many days of enjoyment in paradise. ![]()
