These sites are good BUT you must be very careful on how they use the term "Pet Friendly". Alot of places may charge $50-90 PER ROOM but they have a Pet charge of $100..thats more than double for the room itself. You need to read the fine print and specifically ask what charges if any are specifically for the pet.

Default Red Roof is very dog friendly

We use Red Roof on our way to Canada. We use the Red Roof at Kennesaw just outside Atlanta and the other in Sharonville just outside Cincinnati. Both locations are off I-75 and we have always had a clean King room with wifi for $36+tax- $49+tax. It depends on the time of year, and the north is always more than the south. Have also used the Miamisberg location near Dayton and the Red Roof hotel in Macon. The only one we refused to use was the Red Roof motel in Macon. All locations have been very friendly and there are lots of places to walk the dogs and for us to eat. Ruby Tuesday (Sharonville) and Red Lobster (Kennesaw) are very handy. Makes the trip really easy when we prebook so we have a destination each day. I find that the best price is usually when I call the motel directly rather than using the 800 number. Sorry for being so longwinded.

We travel from Canada with two dogs and a cat, usually stopping for two overnights. We always stay at Red Roof Inns. We have a brochure listing all locations per state. We request the CAA rate which is a few dollars saved! Around noon, we have a good idea of how far we want to drive, and we call then for a reservation. Friendly, clean and well priced!

We always stayed at Hampton Inns, Country Inns or Comfort Inns that allowed dogs (they don't all do). This last trip we stayed at The Red Roof in Statesville, NC and it was great. Clean, attentive service and well priced. I too picked up a book of all their Inn locations and joined their rewards club. We will use them from now on whenever we can.

I just went on the pets.welcome website. The first hotel I clicked on was in Kentucky, (Holiday Inn Express). Their Pet Policy is listed as Pets Not Allowed.

Oh VG, sorry, I didn't mean to be critical of you at all! Not at all. I just thought it was cheeky of hotels to list themselves on a pet-friendly website when they don't accept pets.

Default Traveling from MD to TV in January

Any recommendations on motels/hotels that accept dogs? It was suggested that I could drive the first day and stop in Florence, S.C. for the overnight stay. Anyone stay around there?

Thanks!

Stayed at the Days Inn in Florence about 2yrs ago and it was not in very good condition. Rooms & outside were in need of a makeover.

We usually target our trips to stay at a Comfort Inn. Most of them accept dogs, rates are reasonable, rooms are nice and most have a free continental breakfast starting at 6am.
