Default Bringing food into Disney World

We are going to Disney for Thanksgiving with my son and his family. He wanted to know whether he could bring food into the Disney parks? I talked to a few people and some said it was OK and others said that there are signs prohibiting it.

I know I could call Disney but since I'm here now I thought I would post this here.

You are allowed to bring food to Disney, I've done it. No glass or alcohol and there might be a limit to the size cooler allowed. There are several areas around the park with picnic tables. I would call Disney Guest Services for specifics.

No problem bringing food into Disney---we go every month and there are coolers everywhere--some on wheels! Don't know how a family can afford to do otherwise unless they have the "meal plan." Food is really pricey. Sodas not too bad--around 2.50 (water too). Ice Cream around 3.50. They will look through your cooler and any bags before you enter the Park. Make sure you see the Osborne Lights at Hollywood and, of course, the Castle in the Magic Kingdom is beautiful---lights that make it appear to be encased in ice. Enjoy your visit and having your family with you. Happy Thanksgiving!

I was at Disney the week of 11/6. I saw families with backpacks full of food...they are searched through. Did not see anyone with coolers though. You might want to call guest services. Christmas 'light off' was 11/9 and if you haven't seen Osbourne lights at Hollwood Studios make it a point to see. Sooooo crowded but worth every minute. Have a wonderful time!

Yes, you can bring food into the parks. There are lockers in the front of each park if you don't want to carry the food around with you.

You can get a free cup of ice water at any counter service restaurant at WDW.

Thanx for the replies. We have a Disney Vacation Club time share but never brought food into the parks. However my son and daughter in law have 3 kids and are trying to save a bit of money.

We were there with them 2 years ago and if I recall that wasn't a problem. Because of the price of admission I don't think they'll spend any more than 1 day in the park. I've been there so many times (bought the timeshare in 1993) that if I don't go into the parks thats fine with me. Of course then I'll miss the fish and chips at Rose and Crown. It's the best. I will be attending 3 basketball games as my alma mater is playing at Disney in a tournament.

I too agree with the recommendation to see the Osborne Family Lights. I felt as though I was in NYC in a winter snowfall..absolutely magical.
