Default Horselover granddaughter!

My 13 year old granddaughter, McKenna is a horse lover (actually an animal lover too). I was hoping to take her on one of the thoroughbred tours sponsered by Life Long Learning, but she needs to be 18. She will be coming for a week in April and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on tours, visits etc that you have been on in the area that she might enjoy. I read something about the horse rescue, but don't know if it is open to the public.

I would really appreciate any ideas. Thanks in advance.

There is a 'Horsin' Around' club here that you might want to check into and perhaps attend their meetings. Watch for it in the Rec Center News, as it might only meet monthly, and so might only be listed in the issue for that week.

I believe they go on tours to horse farms and other horse-related activities. With a guest ID card, perhaps your granddaughter would be allowed to join you if the club has any activities scheduled during her visit; or at least, perhaps the members can steer you in the right direction for activities you can arrange on your own.

I took my granddaughters on a horse-drawn carriage tour of the horse farms around Ocala. They loved it. They saw thoroughbreds trainiing and they got to pet and feed carrots to the carriage horses. Also, the guide driver has lots of horse-related suggestions.
You do have to make reservations in advance. Contact is ocalatours.com

I know I am late, but the Carriage Museum is a wonderful place to go.
