Another absolutely ridiculous thread - some contractor and architect being taped about buying american - what do you think they are going to say?

Of course, while being filmed they will say they are willing to do this. However, in the real world - where the bottom line drives the price of every item, down to the very last nail, every contractor I know will ALWAYS, 100% of the time, buy from the cheapest source. And I am in the business.

The naivete of some folks is stunning.

Yepper keep buying from the cheapest foreign made material supplier and pretty soon there will be no one left in America to buy your product. No jobs, no money, no purchase power. What do you think your bottom line will look like in a few years?

A Real American is one whose allegiances are to this nation first.

Getting back to the first poster's question, Why cannot the Administration pull together lists and databases of products made in the USA, and provide the information on internet, and CALL TO ACTION the citizenry in such a common sense effort??

Why can't Congress and the White House do ads on TV and Radio bringing attention to THIS?

Instead, they do ads for own useless re-election.

How's THAT workin' out for the economy?

amazing how many will miss the point, attack the messenger and blow completely past the issue.

For those needing an assist in the point of the thread:

buying American does in fact behold the OPPORTUNITY to increase jobs here at home. Yes in SOME cases one might have to pay more...INITIALLY...the secondary point of the thread is that it does not take a major jump shift in the numbers....5% CAN yield up to 225,000 jobs.

I for one would be first in line for the builder who is willing to give me the option of an all American content home yes at a premium over the cheapest bidder.
Remember the cheapest bidder only benefits the contractor not the home buyer.
We all know the contractors will sell the house with the cheapest product for what ever the market is bringing....not a reduced price because he was able to buy cheap.

Can you take off the damn partisan glasses for one instance? Do you agree with the following hypothesis (a hypothesis has no political meaning) that if all cars purchased in America were made in America there would be no unemployment? The middle class would be restored?

Try to look at from the rationale that there are actions that could be taken, that will definitely increase employment...and that we are NOT doing it. An R or D is not required to answer the question....really.

It has to do with doing those things that COULD create a better America for our grandchildren and those who follow them...not promoting the R or D that is ever present and blocking the ability to even answer a simple question.

I would agree with your hypothesis 100%.

It's just totally unrealistic, is all.

yes 100% is unrealistic. However some effort on the part of some Americans is not unrealistic. Sort of like the get behind America push during WW II... our demographic cross section these days is significantly different as is the almost impossible task of rallying and mobilizing any meaningful number of Americans to address anything requiring much effort....unfortunately.
