Default General surgeons

Has anyone had any experience with Dr Pedro Arroyo, Dr Maohao Han MD, or Dr Gerard Melanson. Looking for a surgeon for a hernia repair. Thanks.

Dr. David McFaddin in Ocala repaired two hernias for me in January 2010. They healed nicely and haven't caused me any problems since.

You won't find a better general surgeon in The Villages than Dr. Gerard Melanson! He removed my wife's gaul blatter in 2004 and repaired my hernia in 2007. Excellent job in both with no complications in either case.

The nurses in the prep-room will tell you he is the best in our area.!

I had a hernia operation just yesterday by Dr. Gerard Melanson, recommended by my doctor, Andrew Conti. I arrived at 6:30 am, got signed in, answered a bunch of questions greeted by a couple of nurses, got shaved (and I don't mean my face), talked to the anesthesiologist and ready to go for surgery at exactly 8 am. I was in recovery for about an hour and then went to Perkins for breakfast by 10 am. (You must show up with a driver to bring you home.) I actually felt pretty good without any pain, but the doctor gave me a prescription for pain killers. I didn't even think I was going to need them until I woke up at 3 am to go to the bathroom and apparently the pain killer they gave me in the hospital wore off. There was pain and I moved very slowly. However, I took the prescription after I had breakfast this morning and with my wife's care, waiting on me, I'm doing fine. It'll probably take a few days to fully recover. (I'm glad I'll have the NFL play-offs to watch over the weekend.) I thought the hospital staff was excellent and very professional. I didn't know anything else about Dr. Melanson, but my neighbor knew of him and commented that he was very good. So far, so good. I have Blue Cross Medicare Advantage and was told my out-of-pocket cost would be about $1,100. She first gave me the non-medicare out-of-pocket amount of $3,100 and I just about got another hernia, but then corrected herself. Good luck!
