Default St. Augustine

I would like to surprise my wife with a trip to St. Augustine in March for our anniversary.

I am not familiar with the St. Augustine area and would appreciate advice/recommendations on hotels and activities in the area.

A couple of things:

- Find St. George St. on a map/mapping function (in the heart of St. Augustine) - lots of interest shops in that area.

- For a bit of history, go see Castillo de San Marcos - only about a block away from the downtown area.

Back on 12/21 a new thread was started that had to do with a Bed & Breakfast in St. Augustine that is owned by Villages residents. I might suggest that you browse that thread to get some ideas and info and maybe even have some conversation with these owners/residents.

Castillo de San Marcos is a National Park. If you don't have one already, you can purchase a America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass– Senior Pass - Cost $10 if you are 62 or older and a US citizen at the park. It gets you and 3 guests lifetime free access to all National Parks.

In St Aug take the trolley tour - all day access and stops all over town.

The early evening boat ride in the harbor is great.

We like the Columbia Restaurant

Have Fun!

Wherever you stay, make it a point to begin your visit by taking a trolly ride which will give you all the places you might want to visit.

Casa Monica or Hilton downtown. Perhaps a B&B? or...rent a condo on the beach. Definitely go to the beach. About 5 miles from town. It's one of the prettiest we've been to. We lived in St. Aug for many years and if I can help you with anything, let me know. La Pavillion for an anniversary dinner? or a great burger with a view of the beach at South Beach Grille. Or perhaps the Purple Olive across from Ocean Village Club Condos on A1A at the beachside. Lots to explore, lots of pictures to take. Have fun!

We will be in St. Augustine for three days at the end of the month on our way to TV. We got three day tickets online for the trolley tour, and plan to take in the Golf hall of fame, and some of the historic museums. Looking forward to exploring and enjoying the area.
